From Japan to Afghanistan, Zimbabwe to France, people are using QR barcodes around the world. While still relatively new to the US, all sorts of interesting QR barcode projects have sprung up. 2d code is a great site that covers QR and other 2D barcodes.

Google Favorite Places
Look for businesses with a QR barcode sticker in their window stating that "We're a Favorite Place on Google". If there's a system, someone will try to game it. Compare that to this poster from the Chamber of Commerce in Tsuruga Japan.

Like the name says, QR art. Very creative stuff. On the other hand, this example is recursively true. Frank Haase's work is billed as the world's largest QR art project.

This hack took a lot of thought and planning. This happened in Dam Square, Amsterdam, on Saturday 24apr10 at 14:00. I'm assuming this is video proof that people actually showed up. One of those "I guess you had to be there" things.
